Santa Rosa, CA – Fourteen volunteers from Redwood Credit Union (RCU) assisted the Harvest for the Hungry Garden by working their annual Spring Sale—an event that raised $17,000 to sustain the garden and support its efforts to provide fresh produce for local hunger programs including FISH of Santa Rosa, The Living Room, Elisha’s Pantry, and Food for Thought AIDS Food Bank. RCU volunteers participate in two opportunities to support the Harvest for the Hungry garden each year: the annual Spring Sale and during the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County’s Hands Across the County program on National Make a Difference Day in the fall.

“RCU is committed to supporting local non-profits and we are passionate about the work that Harvest for the Hungry does for our local food banks,” said Anne Benjamin, Chief Operations Officer at Redwood Credit Union. “We are proud to have worked with Marguerite and her team for more than 10 years and look forward to continuing that partnership in the future, as our employees truly enjoy volunteering at the Garden.”

RCU is committed to the communities they serve, and the many non-profit partnerships it has developed in the 60 years it has served our local communities. These non-profits include, the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County, Center for Nonprofit Leadership of Marin, United Way of the Wine Country, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay, and others. In the first quarter of 2010 alone, 88 RCU employees have raised more than $57,000 and volunteered over 200 hours to support local non-profits.
